Eddie Jones for public execution following this?

I have to say, I don’t harbour any particular ill will towards England but fcuk me, I HATE Eddie jones, and couldn’t be happier at his misery.

He speaks highly of you.

Oh wait my mistake. No one does that. Even your mother.

Well done to to the greens. A good wakeup call for us to ensure we peak at the right time and win the rwc next year.

Were you sweating towards the end of the match today Dis?

I was indeed! Thank god for Laidlaw really. Against Italy as well, FFS! Still, it was a really good game-enjoyed it (kind of).

I’d be intrigued to hear from those with more knowledge than I do what went wrong for England here. They seem to have been unbeaten for so long-what’s changed? New players or something?

Not new players Dis, no.

I think England got complacent and stale. Thing is, it is hard to stay at the top. I don't believe anyone has every won the 5 or 6 nations 3 times in a row* for example.

So hopefully this will be the kick up the arse to get rid of some deadwood and those getting too old (Cole and Hartley), for the others to step up a bit more so we can win the world cup next year.

Any truth in the suggestions that England were amazing at playing one way but now eveyones figured it out they just get smashed at the break down and the current players are either too thick, or havent been coached well enough to know how to do anything else? Whats happened to Jonathan Joseph? I remember watching him tear Scotland apart at will last year, he looked like he was playing 7's against us at time but this year he's been nothing like that level, is it the lack of ball in good positions he's getting now?

Scotland seem to have done well considering their points difference being bloody awful, hopefully Townsend gets their defence sorted out as scoring doesnt seem to be a problem. As great as Laidlaw is and bailing us out at the death there I have a sneeking feeling that we seem to play better when he's not in the team.

That Ireland team are going to take some stopping at the world cup though, they're not exactly an old team either.

I don't think so Deev, if you look back at the matches in the Australia tour for example, England played a number of different ways. It is definitely true however that we have a big problem at the breakdown that needs fixing fast.

Its Ireland who only have one or two ways to play, but they do it so damned effectively. It isn't pretty or exciting but its definitely effective.

You're not entirely correct about Ireland not being old though. Two of the linchpins of the team are distinctluy the wrong side of 30
Sexton is 32,
Best is 35

Whilst I do not underestimate the quality of Stander, Murray et al, without Sexton their style will be effected significantly
