So who do you fancy?

Ireland obviously favourites for title, but the first weekend looks more crucial than ever.

Ireland - England. Ireland favourites obv, esp at home. But anything but a win and their campaign is deemed a failure. And whilst Ireland are favourites it isn't that clear cut- especially with the ENgland pack fully fit including Mako & Billy (shame Te'o is injured though)

France-Wales - Wales favourite after with France so apparently weak, but they don't have a great record in Paris so again this one will define both their campaigns, esp as with Gatland saying they wioll win the grand slam. Whereas France have both Ireland and England away

Scotland should really really beat Italy. But who knows- they only just did last year

Can’t help but feel that after the first weekend it will all be a bit anti-climatic: England v Ireland decides the title.

Its OK if we are shit at cricket as long as the Aussies are even shitter.

So come on TR. Scared to express your confidence with your lot being favourites?

Actually, yes. This is a very unusual position for Irish fans to be in - elements here are already talking up the Irish team as having a good chance to win the next world cup and not winning the 6N would be a blow to that. Nobody wants to jinx anything by being cocky or over-confident.

It's much easier to be the plucky underdogs that'll turn up and have a good go, win a couple of matches and as long as England is one of those matches, party and get pissed.

TBH I expected that and I do fully understand.

That's what i mean when i say that if Ireland lose (or even draw) that match against England, their 6N campaign will be considered as a failure.

I think/hope it will be a cracker of a match

Yep. Gave Ireland little chance to play and really tied up one of the best teams in the world. given that one of Ireland's tries came at the end when we had switched off and another when down to 14 men and it looks even more impressive. Think we should have had that disallowed try too

Scotland had better watch out next week. Ireland will be out to avenge that defeat as much as possible.

Wonder whether we'll get first half France or second half France? the

Can you avenge a defeat against a different opponent? Isn’t that a bit like kicking the dog when you get home after getting a mauling for the boss at work?

The least certain match now for England must be France. Even (particularly?) they never know how they are going to play.

Ireland must be total shite now, nobody loses to England, how humiliating for them. Scotland to hump them 25-12.

No reply from across the water? On paper it is a clear Ireland win, but they don't have a great record in Murrayfield and it remains to be seen how they deal with the loss last weekend. The Scottish back 3 are good so who knows.

England -France: After last weekend England start must favourites- especially at Twickenham. But France always have that certain degree if unexpectedness (whether they catch a ball and run the length of the pitch to score in a gallic display of brilliance - or throw the ball invitingly into the air on their own tryline
So I'm confident-ish but with nerves

Wales vs Italy. I'd like to say look on the bright side ID. But lets face it you have no fcuking chance, and given that Parisse is 35 he will presumably retire before long and then it will get even worse.
I do admire your new fly half though - playing blind in one eye with goggles to protect the other one.

Never mind the England result, this is the crunch match for Ireland's world cup ambitions. A good result here puts the back on track.

20 mins to go and England are utterly dominating the frogs - I know that the French don't always turn up, but this is some crushingly good rugby.

That was an impressive performance (up to 60 mins when everyone parked up and decided they had had enough). The French did turn up - they weren’t as hopelessly disorganised as they can be but they were blown off the park. Owens was a little generous in his decisions (a penalty, not a penalty try, and Sinckler can count himself lucky to have avoided the sin bin). Even so that was a performance for 60 mins that I really don’t think any team in the world could have lived with. England’s attacking edge off the front foot and the back foot was equally deadly.

Began to feel sorry for the 14 of France that they targeted ruthlessly. Look, you’re clearly a tiny schoolboy and we’re going to abuse you.

Not as good a performance as the Ireland game, and we did lose concentration and accuracy in the 2nd half. But I guess I would have taken those results before the 6N started :)

Shame Scotland weren't more accurate. I thought at one point we had a chance of an England-Scotland grand slam decider in the last game which is always fun

And ID, after that loss, France will presumably dump all their good players. So who knows who you will have to play against - but you could be in with a chance when you play them. Italy played better against Wales after all.
