Yes. Very.

Hard work starts with the next game though. Best case it is one of five games against tier 1 sides, all of which England must win to raise the trophy.

Big ask.

Banned Australia winger Reece Hodge said he had no knowledge of World Rugby's new guidance on high tackles.

He was given a three-match ban for a dangerous challenge on Peceli Yato in Australia's win over Fiji.

World Rugby said: "The player conceded he had no effective knowledge of World Rugby's 'Decision making framework for high tackles'.

"[He said] had not been trained on it... because [his] tackles are mainly in the waist to knees area."

Bollocks to that. Most rugby fans were aware of the new guidance, a fcuking player in a tier 1 side should be.

Double his penalty for a stupid excuse

Scotland, I reckon. They may we’ll be looking at flights home after the group stage. Ireland should still be able to go through.

I think so too. But Ireland had their sights set on more than a QF place and it doesn't bode well for that- not just the result but the manner of it.

And if Ireland fail to take the remaining bonus points they may be praying for Japan to beat Scotland so it doesn't go to a 3-way tie break

It was a brilliant performance from Japan. Didn’t let Ireland get in to any sort of form and blew them away in the second half.

Scotland game will be a sight to behold as both sides will try to play a free flowing game.

What does the Irish rugby team and the Titanic have in common?

Both went down 1912.

That was some good hard work by Wales!

Felt a very loose game that could have gone either way.

Yep, good game

Looking ahead in that group:
Aus struggled against Fiji
Uruguay beat Fiji
Georgia beat Uruguay

Can we dare hope from Georgia vs Aus?
No, I don''t believe we can, but it would be funny

I’ve never really understood why NZ are allowed to do the Haka. No other team dances about or puts on a little play. Maybe they should.

Thats not true, the Pacific islanders all do the equivalent. But it really is part of their heritage. Whereas the kiwis only started doing it in the late 70s IIRC

If everyone wants to do some pre match ritual that's fine but it shouldn't just be one nation.
I haven't seen any of the Island nations knock out a Haka before a game when I've been but that's not saying they don't at some.
I gather its in the RWC rules that the opponents have to watch and aren't allowed to laugh/point as they will be fined - ridiculous if true.

Yeah, various teams in the past have turned their back, carried on warming up etc and the All Blacks get all sensitive at it and whinge so it was banned and they have to stand and watch.
I think the ABs even complained when someone (an Australian IIRC) walked up close and was held to be aggressively facing up

Tonga have the Sipi Tau
Fiji has the Cibi
Samoa Siva Tau which replaced the Maulu'ulu Moa

In looking up those names I discover they aren't as culturally historic as I thought

I have said before England ought to do a Morris dance. We'd score 2 tries before they had stopped laughing

I'm conflicted about the Haka. I think it can be a great part of the theatre of the sport, but the idea that it MUST be respected, when it's essentially a 'threat', is a bit much. My view is that it should be limited to Test matches, as it adds atmosphere, but it shouldn't be done at a World Cup, where it's too much, too often.

Would love to see how the Kiwis react if the Irish team all started doing a bit of a Riverdance during their Haka...

I agree with all of you ^, if one nation can do something why not the others?
Morris dancing would be excellent and at the end of the first season I think all pre match entertainment would be banned.

Just need to put 4 past Japan and hope they dont get within 7 points and get 4 tries of their own. Easy.

Haven't you heard. There is a conspiracy against Scotland by all of the other rugby nations. SO they have organised Typhoon Hagibis to force the cancellation of the Japan-Scotland game, which makes it count as a 0-0 draw. So Japan go through and Scotland are out

Japan’s handling and offload skills are sublime.

Scotland need to learn to start playing before their heels are hanging over the cliff edge.

I feel that instead of swapping Italy for Georgia in the 6N, we should be swapping Scotland for Japan.
