Hopefully I can be fixed

Post by DI Burnside @ Fri Jul 07, 2017 4:58 pm

Now the boy isn't well. He got home from school today and said the left side of his mouth, his left hand and arm were numb, and he had a headache. We're a bit worried and have managed to get an emergency appointment at the GP so Mrs B is taking him now.

He had his meningitis jabs yesterday so maybe just a reaction to those ?

Sounds like migraines I used to / sometimes still get. Classical migraines I think. If it is the same thung, its quite frightening symptoms but common.

I hope it's nothing worse than that, I'm more than a bit worried given our history (although I'm not letting on to Mrs B). She used to get Migraines so maybe its a hereditary thing.

I'm sure span is right and it's a migraine or a nothing thing but understand why you're concerned. Fingers crossed for you all dibs - let us know when you know.

They're back. Doc says it was probably a migraine but we've to keep an eye on him over the weekend and if there's a repeat of any of the symptoms we're to take him to A&E straightaway.

The stroke thing is really bothering me. I've just dropped NSLMB off at a party so have parked up to take a few minutes to myself.

Yes hopefully nothing more serious, but a horrible worry in the meantime with everything you've all been through. Fingers crossed for him.

e.t.a. sorry, that was a cross post. A horrible worry. Hope he's feeling better soon....

What a bloomin week for you lot, Dibs!

It depends on the tinnitus. Sometimes it's caused by the muscles inside the ear vibrating and you can cancel that with an antiphase sound. (Filling the middle ear with cocaine would probably work too, but is a bit dubious long term.) Sometimes it's just your nerves being a cnut and you can't cancel that because it's basically a hallucination. You can tell which type you've got because if it's the cancellable type then someone else putting their ear to yours can hear it too.

Sometimes tinnitus can be cured or at least alleviated by snapping your fingers against the back of your skull.

Sheesh, just logged in to post a silly pic and thought i'd catch up with some threads. Dibs, you've been asked before to leave some NHS for the rest of us... mention it to the family too, eh?

Seriously though, hope the boy is OK.

He seems fine this morning, no ill effects at all. One of his mates was off school yesterday with what appears to be a reaction to the jabs (although different symptoms) so maybe it was. Just that. We'll just have to keep an eye on him.

I read this post thinking I was reading about Peppa the dog. Much confusion at the concept of a dog's mate being off school.

Glad they both seem to be doing better now.

Was it the arm he was jabbed in?

Very pleased to hear he's feeling better! Nasty (and scary) if it was a side effect though what Tokes said makes sense.

NSLMB saw the consultant at Addenbrooke's this morning, he said the fracture on her back is stable, she can do what she likes (within reason obs) and it'll be fine. The pain she has been getting recently hasn't been caused by the break, it's just a common as muck bad back. According to him things like this are more often than not familial, and Mrs B and her Mum (her Mum shockingly bad) have bad back so she's got it from them. Some physio to strengthen it is all she needs for now, then much to my dismay said "she can go back to riding her horse". She's beaming and has skipped of to work with a massive smile on her face.

Can you get her a small horse, where her feet touch the ground when she is on it?

Ooof, I am glad I missed that stuff about your son until we had a resolution. Terrifying and glad he's okay.

Out of interest, do you know the cause of your tumour? Is it a gene thing or just random?

Ta.

They don't know what causes meningioma (the type I had). Probably Mother Nature's way of saying "Look, you're just too perfect, I need to bring you more into line with mere mortals"

We're kicking her out.

Well, she's going on NCS for 3 weeks on Monday so we won't hear her bleating.
