Met with my Oncologist last week after having my annual head MRI. No change in the tumour which was good news, I'm getting more relaxed about it now and don't worry as much as I used to when it got near check up time.

They did discover a cavernoma though (an abnormal group of blood cells) which had previously gone undetected. Apparently they're not uncommon and usually cause no problems, but if they bleed they can be anything from a little annoying to fatal. They're just going to keep an eye on it for now.

Probably a strong correlation with NHS finances over those five years, Dibs... ;)

Good that this is working out, lucky you don't live in America so didn't have to start a Meth lab to pay for treatment, and after all that effort still end up in a frozen cabin in the woods not cured.

Eye surgery booked for 2 weeks time, my double vision is getting worse to the point where they can't put any more prism in my glasses. If all goes well I won't need any at all after the op which I'm very much looking forward to, prisms are a ball ache.

Doc C, consultant is Peter Thomas at Bedford, don't know if you know of him. Nice guy with a good reputation.

It must be horrible having these to go to, all the best for today.

Out of interest, and obviously I hope and assume this won't be the case, if they did find 'something' would they operate straight away or wait until it was causing an issue? I assume the first or they wouldn't bother scanning but presumably a 'something' that's small enough to not cause an issue would be pretty small and difficult to operate on anyway. Just idle thoughts on the appropriate use of resources vs emotional distress.

After the first shit I had to go back every 3 months for the first year, then every six for three, then a couple of annuals, and then an all clear - no need for follow ups. Three years later and it came back. That was 10 years ago and I’m back on annual check ups, and for ever this time.

I get apprehensive about mine. I just want to be well. I don’t want somebody to tell me I’m well and I’m not sure I want to know if/when it comes back.
The hospital are fantastic about this and beyond a quick prod in the glands the annual is essentially a blood test. So they do stabbing and bleeding on arrival and by the time you get to see the quack they’ve already got the blood test results so you know straight away at least.

Presumably it must be like a home from home for you now though, Dibs? I imagine they little doilies with your initials embroidered on them, and a special personalised greeting where everyone just taps their head when they see you, apart from the fit nurses ofcourse who naturally go straight in with some reassuring cupping.

Just got back, it’s all stable and the consultant has said she’s going to put me out to 2 years between scans now. The longer I go with no change, the less the chances of any change happening.

Tokes, I think if there was any change there would be no mad rush to do anything. The tumour I’ve got is really slow growing so it would take a while before it started affecting anything.

Tweets, there’s still a fair chunk of it left which is what they’re keeping an eye on, along with a little carcinoma they found.

When it first kicked off, how long do they think you had had it, to get to that size?

Good news dibs.

Though you can expect another bill from ID for the candles. Not for the cupping, that's his hobby

Nah he's on his own now, if I light them it's for me.

I'm also too busy cupping my own balls.

Hang on a minute! I didn't invent the cupping, I'm the one who charges to light candles for you in various Catholic churches.
