Shit news for both of you guys, GN in particular as that sounds properly shit after all you've been through.

I honestly can't believe no one stopped to help you CIS, that really sucks?

Ugh. I've had to provide a stool sample prior to my colonoscopy. That's a horrible thing to have to do isn't it? I certainly pity anyone who has to work with shit, day to day.

Although it did make my mind leap somehow via a poo-emoji train of thought straight to remembering the ghostly poo-emoji my daughter made out of left over cake icing at the weekend, which made me smile in the midst of the horror.

My colonoscopy was wonderful. They gave me so many drugs, I was as high as a kite. I had one of those bizarre moments when the surgeon tried to turn at the splenic flexure, when the ODA applied abdominal pressure to assist, I thought he was trying to give me a little cuddle! A couple of minutes later I'm looking at my own appendix. It was all a bit surreal, like Filth

I was similarly kitelike and tbh barely remember any of the procedure other than them pulling the last bit of tube out which felt like a massive satisfying fart.

Jesus. There's some proper bad shit going on in here.

I have a mere cold. But I am absolutely knackered, having been working harder than I can ever remember for 7 weeks straight, and I still have a week to go. I've finally come down with the cold because I'm so ridiculously run down.

I'm incredibly tired, all the time, but adrenaline and caffeine mean I haven't been sleeping properly for weeks. I just want to curl up in a ball and re-enter the world some time towards the end of May.

Ouch. Better than an rectal prolapse I suppose but a pain in the arse nonetheless. What can be done to fix it?

Me, don't know which disc yet as I only spoke to the receptionist, a letter is on its way. I've got an appointment with the MSK Doc on 24th April.

It's only taken them a fcuking year to find that out.

Wanna piss yourself in fear? Google "Cauda Equina Syndrome". See if any of the the red flags apply. Probably not relevant given their complete lack of urgency.

Take a tip from a Pro, never consult with Dr Google on anything, he's a scaremonger who only deals in worst case scenarios.

Even once you've been diagnosed with something tread very carefully if you ask Dr Google about that diagnosis.

Freddie and Dibs, sorry to hear you have more health woes. Hope you both feel better soon.

Hand update: I went to the hospital today and they've said I can remove the splint except for at night and I have to start doing exercises on my hand but it's all mending nicely apparently. Yay!

That sounds like good news CIS4.

Did you use the old "Will I be able to play the piano when the bandages come off?" line?

Hehe! Missed opportunity if not. I bet hand doctors hear that all the time.

Greg - is there an end in sight, in terms of work pressure?

Dibs - ffs! Stop going wrong!

I think we have to accept that Dibs is fundamentally flawed and will continue to generate error messages. Sad.

It didn't even occur to me to make the piano joke! My hand feels quite stiff and there's still some bruising but apparently that's normal. There's a lot more movement that before and they said I can start using a PC keyboard again but not to overdo it.

Greggers, you sound like you need a break. And not of the bone variety. Can you reduce your workload or take a bit of time off?

Clown, Span, there is an end in sight, which is 5pm next Wednesday. But there's no break to be had until then. Rather annoyingly I woke up at 1.30 this morning and due to a combo of some very uncomfortable sinuses and a million anxiety laden things taking hold of my mind almost immediately I find I am still wide awake (hence sitting here, trying to do something that might flush my head; I've already penned a couple of work emails). The fact that I have yet a chokka time-pressured day tomorrow and I couldn't get back to sleep did an excellent job of keeping my mind in full wide awake anxiety mode, thereby ensuring that I couldn't get back to sleep. Excellent.

By next week the cold should be gone and I can sit down and do a whole lot of nothing over Easter. Except crack the whip to ensure major and minor actually do some bloody revision, obviously.

I might have broken my hand. 2 days ago I skelped it off a bracket at work, I was lifting something and did it too fast and too pissed off and took a chunk of skin off my hand. As it turns out it hurt a fair bit and went a bit puffy. Now 2 days later it seems taping it up hasn't really helped and i have bruises up my index and middle finger and the top of my hand is helluva puffy, my knuckles are indents and it hurts to touch and I cant make a fist properly. So I reckon I should go to the hospital tomorrow and find out if I've gubbed it or not. After golf.

Back update !

Degenerated discs from T12 down to S1, progressively getting worse from top to bottom. I've been referred to a Neurosurgeon at Addenbrooke's and I'm trying to wrangle it so I see the same guy that did my tumour.

I had my annual head MRI a few weeks ago (I'll update on the other thread) and my Oncologist had seen my back MRI as it's part of my file. Although not her area given my slight celebrity status at Addenbrooke's she had a chat with the Neurosurgeon before I got there and is going to copy him in on everything. Hopefully he'll intercept my referral.

In the meantime I'm on a slowly increasing dose of Gabapentin to try and numb the nerve a bit, but it's not having any effect yet. I'm limited in what I can take (as in no anti-inflammatories) which doesn't help. The pain makes it quite debilitating at times, to such an extent I'm waiting on an appointment for an assessment to see if I qualify for a blue badge !

I might give him a ring, I’m seeing him in a couple of weeks anyway. I don’t mind trying anything, just a bit concerned it might affect my current meds.

ETA: This is their website:

https://cbdasylum.com

I know both the blokes that own the company so would get a decent discount :)
