Did it for free.
It's so easy I would have done it myself but bleeding the clutch is a two man job (or a pain in the arse one man job) so I couldn't be arsed.

Seriously, if you don't notice the problem don't bother to do it.
Maybe your car is different.

You don't have to be very good at Italian to know that translates as you think he is too shit a driver to notice.

Put your spoon back in your pocket!

It's not about being a good or shit driver. The car was the way it was and I just accepted that it was normal for a Rolf/hot hatch/VW. It was only when someone said "this can be improved" that I took notice.

He probably is a shit driver though.

VW life just gets better!

Not only are the local dealer only going to charge me for a service, instead of an oil inspection now and a service in 4 months, they are only going to charge me £187 (the cost of an oil inspection) and chuck in a hire care free.

Also my original mileage limit was 10k over 2 years with 6p per mile for any excess.
It was cheaper to do this, run it to 24k and pay the excess than take a 24k contract.
The excess was going to be about £950 but VW have just offered to raise my mileage limit to 24k for only £450.

Yay!

Don't despair, I've heard that this offer is quite normal.
You'll end up at 32k: 12k miles over, which is lower than I was, so you should hear something, probably after you book it in for your first service at about 13-15k.

A bloke I train with who owns an estate agency runs an S-Class that has a limited mileage per year and at the tail end of last year he started having to cut about in his wife's Hynundai, due to having absolutely ruined his limit, which was quite good as he hated it massively.

How badly do you get reamed for going over?

It's only 6p per mile with VW.

Maybe 16ppm on a Merc?
He really can't even afford to own that car can he?
