Audi S3-2016- bag of shit- Owned

Post by Il Duce @ Mon Nov 21, 2016 11:18 am

The Golf R has gone and has been replaced by another hire car: An Audi S3. Same sort of price but then it should be as it's basically the same car.

I'll be comparing it to the Golf.

It feels a lot better made and all of the interior surfaces feel better quality. the paint looks as though it's twice as thick too- I love the colour btw! The doors close with more of a quality thump. Outside I'm not sure it looks as nice at the front but the rear is better. Wheels are better looking but when you open the door the puddle light is the AUDI four circles logo and is useless apart from making you look a tw@t, as it doesn't illuminate the puddles and dog shit.
Inside the seats feel better but they are a little wider so i'm glad I chose the Alcantara otherwise I'd be slipping from side to side. They have a few more adjustments too. All of the controls feel better but the screen popping out of the dashboard looks shite. That said it's operated but a console mounted joystick which is much more use than the touch screen in the Golf. The lights are better on both dipped and full beam but they don't wiggle left and right which is a bit disappointing.
Boot is a tiny bit smaller and there's no load through facility (extra) and so no rear arm rest (extra). There are fewer cubby holes throughout the car too.
I had to pay extra for the fully auto handbrake as the standard one only holds the car for 5 seconds when you lift off the brake in traffic. I also had to pay for auto radar cruise control and rear parking sensors. They wanted money for folding mirrors too but I never used them on the Golf and that had Dumbo ears for mirrors so I didn't bother. On the plus side it has sat nav and heated seats as standard. Another plus point was that privacy rear glass was extra so i didn't have to have it as I think it makes it look like a van.

It feels a lot faster and more surefooted especially the turn in but that may be down to new tyres v old tyres. Brakes seem better and the ride is much more comfortable and quieter. The engine/exhaust note is sportier but is a bit too loud when you press the Dynamic button as it pops and farts on the overrun.

That's all for now. If I think of anything else as boring I'll add it.

WTF is the point of that? except to make you pay for the properly working version of course.

Apologies for swearing but I have no choice.

The clutch on the fvcker started slipping after 15k miles.
It went in last week to Cardiff Audi and I had a call yesterday- sorry, it's worn out, you did it, there is no leaking fluid on the clutch, there can be no other possible explanation, we're not even going to bother to look for a reason because you didn't buy it here and BTW that'll be £2K.

But I'm 55, I've had 38 cars, never changed a clutch and the Golf R I had last time didn't break. the balance of probabilities is that there is a fault somewhere else? Maybe a weak clutch spring? It's been noted on the web?

You did it. You broke it. Lalalaa not listening. £2k please.

FVCKOFF!

Contacted the supplying dealer in Stansted Audi before this: ah don't worry, Cardiff will look after you but here's Audi Uk's number if you have any problems.

FVCKYOU TOO!

My only hope is the lease company might have some pull with Audi but knowing my luck Audi will have to join the list of cvnts with Porsche.

The leasing company have organised an RAC inspection for this Wednesday.

Shall we have a vote/poll how we think this will end?

Two options:

1. I get fvcked over
2. I get fvcked over.

No way a new car uses a clutch up at 15k miles, unless it is some exotic supercar from the 1960's, there must be some dispute resolution thing Audi have?

Are to on Twitter ID?

Perhaps tweet about it so that Audi UK see it? I understand Twitter is a useful tool for resolution of customer service problems.

So lets say you have been driving since you were 17. 38 years. 38 cars. So you changed them very 12 months and so have probably never did much more than 15k miles on a car before. So all the time you have been a shit driver, its just that whoever you sold the car to ended up taking the cost of the new clutch

Wow, you really are a dick sometimes. I had 2 cars at a time. Sometimes 3. I drove a lot. To Italy as well. The mileage on most cars was between 25 and 90k.

You're just angry because I had fish and champagne yesterday and you had to drink tea and smell burgers.

I once killed a clutch after ~15000 miles. It was a combination of me driving like an absolute cnut and a leaky crankshaft o-ring letting engine oil into the clutch.

Thanks for that.

Just had an enlightening conversation with a local VW specialist. He said a weak spring would cause that damage, make it appear it was my fault and not be that obvious to a stupid* cnut* (*my words) that wasn't looking for it. He also said that the RAC man wouldn't know fvck all.

Finally he asked me the mileage. His reply was "no fvcking way that should have gone at 15k even if you drove like an absolute tw@t"

I've now contacted Audi Customer service and made a complaint. About the car, not the specialist obv.

Odd wear patterns on the flywheel - looks like the friction plate it could have suffered contamination but nothing obvious on the plate itself.

As said, it looks worn, but not worn out.

Just for you I've been and taken the current clutch off my s4. It has been abused to fcuk including several launches and is not slipping in the slightest.

It has also been sitting, not moving, for quite some time, i would normally expect the flywheel to be clean and shiny.

The service man in Cardiff Audi said it's worn on the edges due to me resting my foot on the clutch.
Ah of course, all these years driving and I never realised it wasn't a footrest. Cvntyshitface!

I asked if a weak clutch spring could give the same result and he said "absolutely not"

Is this true?

UPDATE
Just spoke to an Audi specialist. He said it's 99% a weak pressure plate. The garage can't test for that hence: no fault found.
I'm waiting for Sachs to come back to me about testing it.

I don't know what the problem is but something isn't right. I've posted a thread about it on audiSRS

https://audisrs.com/diagnose-this-clutc ... 71480.html
also... £2k? they're taking the piss...

It's ONLY £1709! laugh!

Anyway, just read the rac report in full. 2 points stand out-

Pressure Plate: Slight heat bluing with slippage marks were present on the contact face of the
drive plate. However, the cover / diaphragm assembly showed no evidence of mechanical
failure. All tangential straps and release fingers were intact showing no visual distortion.

Specialist testing of the pressure plate assembly may confirm
the engineer’s opinion (or may confirm the fcuker is weak)

It's a weak pressure plate. I've been in touch with Sachs about testing it as the dealer is unable to do it.

It's worth a mention that someone in my AudiSRS thread is having a similar issue (at 12k miles) but his dealership want £2.2k and wont even look at it until he agrees to pay if they find it's normal wear and tear.

Same thing they said to me.
Just heard form Sachs. They won't touch it. It has to go back to Germany via the dealer. Yeah right.

My only hope now is that Audi UK see some sense.
