Aung San. Weak end at Burmese.

Aung San. Weak end at Burmese.

So, with her eloquence and clipped British accent she lamented the loss of noble things from he cell in Myanmar for years.

Now she is free and in power, with a Nobel Peace Prize in her back pocket, she has fallen far from those soundbites herself.

Its not a surprise when someone without power promises so much; that's politics. But to manipulate the world around her to believing her heroine story, and then be actively awful when eventually in power (rather than a lame duck frex) worsens her crime, don't you think?

Horrible, I don't know much about the situation there but it suggests her position is weakened by the role that the military still has in government.

I can't say I know much about it, but I get the feeling if she tried too hard to solve the problems then the army would just seize power again.

So, your suggestions are that she is somewhere in between an actual leader and a puppet.

In which case she has decided that it is better to have some power, even symbolic, in the hope of winning a longer game. And it follows that she has gone along with hideous war crimes as part of this 'deal'. Shedding some blood now in the hope of the greater good?

Actually she seems to be complicit in as much as she tacitly supports the current genocide, or at least refuses to acknowledge it, which is perhaps worse. She is openly disdainful of Muslims as was shown when she was famously interviewed by Mishal Hussein for the BBC.

Not seen that before, so googled it. Bloody hell what a dick she was in that interview!
