Detective me up some boots like this:

Post by Damien Thorn @ Mon Jan 25, 2016 8:53 am

I want a pair of boots like this please -

Image

They are clearly ace but I can't find any like them from anywhere. So that's your task, to help me discover them.

Black, simple, cap toe and contrast stitching.

I've had a look.

I used the search terms: rapist boots, polio boots, horrific boots... but still nothing.

Thanks for your efforts IlDo! Keep trying. It's my desire to resemble a horrific polio rapist from the ankles down.

e: what's the style called where a shoe or boot has a stitched toe cap? Is that on Oxford?

That's pretty close! Well done spast1k, a good start. I'd still prefer contrast stitching though. Can we find that?

I found out the difference recently.

Which (I think) makes your OP a pair of quarter brogue derby boots.

Well they're certainly Derby not Oxford then. Derby gets called Blucher in America I think. I don't now know if there's a special name for having the capped toe though.

You can have 'cap toe oxfords' as distinct from just plain old 'oxfords'/any other shoe so I think the cap toe isn't a style on it's own as much as its a variant of other styles.

We used to wear boots like that when I was at school (not DM's ones, just cheapy one probably). We called them monkey boots.

The ones you've linked look too spectacularly awful even for me though, unfortunately.

e: oh, I see they call them monkey boots as well.

These are the best boots posted here by far, IMO. Contrast stitching isn't. my. bag, bay-bee (what's that from again??) so I think you should get these instead.
