Do you iron bedding?

Post by stuart @ Mon May 30, 2016 3:04 pm

It came up in the pub in a conversation about hiring help, cleaners, gardeners etc that I might hire someone to do my ironing as I hate ironing with a passion (apart from shirts, for some reason I quite enjoy ironing shirts) or at least just have her iron my bedding.

"You iron bedding!!!!" was the reply. I thought this was normal, but apparently I'm the only person in my social circle that irons bedding. Even asking other people in the office no one irons their bedding.

So, do you iron your bedding?

Let's break it down:

- The sheet you sleep on [Y/N]
- Bed sheets (between you and the mattress if you use them) [Y/N]
- Duvet Covers [Y/N]
- Pillow cases you sleep on [Y/N]
- Decorative pillow cases [Y/N]

Settle it.

I don't know what they are called, those pillows that get thrown on the floor before you go to bed. They seem pointless other to look nice

All my bedding is linen so doesn't need to be ironed.

The only thing I use mine for is for transferring etch resist patterns onto blank PCB laminate.

We've got the useless decorative pillows that get thrown on the floor before you go to bed. We've also got one of those long thin bits of fabric that lie along the foot of the bed (like in hotels) and again have no purpose other than to be kicked off in the night.

As for ironing the bedclothes, I asked the GF and she gave an emphatic "No" and somehow turned it into a personal attack on me about her doing "everything around here". So thanks for that.

I don't iron my bedding.

Other than the odd shirt now and then I try to avoid doing any ironing at all.

My wife does quite religiously, with a bit of starch too I think.
Even though I would never do it myself, it definitely makes a difference. Getting into bed after she has but new sheets on is one of lifes exaggerated pleasures.

It is certainly that. The cleaner at our old house was regularly referred to as "she of the fresh sheets". Because that's how I roll.
