How old are you ffs?

I probably did my first proper beards about 26, 27 years ago? But it was all fun and games back then, with Lemmy-esque chops and horizontal tramlines.

I've had mine for about 12 years now, I hate shaving and find it so much easier to keep neat and tidy.

I've never had a beard. Closest I got was when I had a rash on my face and didn't shave for 10 days.
My stunning olive continental skin should never be hidden. Also I looked like a homeless.

Good grief. You know how sometimes it's difficult to perceive gradual charges in your appearance just from a daily glimpse in the mirror? Well, I took a side-on selfie of current beard progress this week, and was slightly taken aback to see how white it is this time.

It was only two years ago I last grew a beard, and that was a sinister FSB-esque dark result. This time my face looks like a skunk. Even the moustache area has got white in!

Unintentional I assure you.

But I see what you mean but I can't precisely work out what part of the face gives me that impression.
Is the eyes? Or the lips? Something feminine there but what? Anyone?

It's a further two weeks now since I realised another beard had begun on my face, and this morning I did the first bit of tidying up under the jawline.

I'm still leaving the top of the cheeks au naturel though, for the full on Sean Connery no-fcuks-given. However, due to the sudden ravages of time the white striping leaves me looking like I fell on a badger and some of it got stuck.

I'm thinking about doing a summer beard, but I'm not sure if that's a stupid idea. I've done Christmas beards before, as you know - but never one in the summertime.

I run quite hot anyway and am usually in at shirt while Mrs Thorn shivers under a blanket, wearing a jumper and clamours for the heating to be turned on. So is a hot weather beard going to be awful?

Beard wearers of CTF, your experiences and anecdotes please.

Most terrorists have beards and they live in hot countries.

Not saying you're a terrorist of course.

DT bear in mind, Rolf Harris, Gary Glitter and Noel Edmunds have/had beards.

Not saying you're a fiddler or massive tw@t of course.

I have a battered old Landcruiser too which is the vehicle of choice for many a mujahiddeen. But not a terrorist, it's not that sort of beard - I couldn't imagine life without the consumption of pork or alcohol.

I usually have a winter beard and then get rid for the summer when I tend to struggle with the heat. This year however, in an either apparent bout of laziness or incredible derring-do, I have kept it (albeit kept short, not bushy).

From past experience, having already dared show my face to the sun, I'm now stuck with it for the entirety of the summer or risk revealing a disturbing tanline.

There is never a wrong time or place to beard.

I have bearded for decades now (full beard but trimmed short). Being monumentally lazy it is easier to beard and just tidy it up a couple of times a week than to shave every day.

That said I would like not to beard for a while, but I’m not allowed to as according to Mrs B I look a tw@t without one. I’m not convinced it makes much of a difference tbh...

I have bearded for about five or six years now. I am now forbidden from not-bearding. Also, I look far wiser than I am. If I don't speak, the illusion is maintained.

Shut up grandma, grow a beard!

I still only have to shave twice a week so it would take months to grow anything decent, pathetic really.
