Worse, corduroy red trousers.

I don’t own any red trousers, nor do I own any cords. If I’m not in a suit, it’s jeans (unless summer).

Clown: if Mr Clown is allergic to cats look at Maine Coons, or Siberians or Norwegian Forest Cats. They all have lower levels in their saliva of the protein that provokes an allergic reaction. Mrs 66 and both the girls are generally allergic to cats in varying degrees but can all bury their faces in our cat.

I love cats too but we can't have one because Mr C is allergic, the terrible man.

I've considered Gregg's shoes over the last day or two and I remain Unsure.

Then get a kitten. It’s their saliva he’s allergic to, and kittens don’t obsessively wash themselves like grown cats do. By the tune it does he will have built a level of immunity to that cat.

I didn’t say that. fcuking hate the things and am likewise allergic, but spent five years with a madwoman who didn’t.

I'm wondering now what my own worst shoe crime is. I did once own some white Hi-Tec trainer-boots, this sort of thing...

Image

...when I was a committed 15/16 year old heavy metaller, generally wearing them with tight ripped jeans, a very distressed Metallica t-shirt and a leather biker jacket. I've also already confessed to buying a pair of all-white Adidas trainers a couple of years ago. Furthermore I'd like it to be taken into account that I own a pair of hiking sandals.

Frankly, if any person does not own a pair, then they should be made to explain why not. They are simply the best all-round summer footwear for any occasion - end of.

I do not have a pair of hiking sandals.

My reasons are as follows:
1. I do not hike. It's for disableds and womens. Much like the sandals. Men have climbing boots. For climbing. Roar!
2. Sandals are worn by children, monks and hippies. I am none of those.
3. I don't want to look like a cnut. Or more of a cnut than you think I do.

No, you've got that wrong - or at least, you've got number 1 wrong, the others look all right. Hiking isn't for "disableds and womens", it's for Americans. British people just go for a walk. I don't know what Italians do, so maybe that's what's confused you.

Whilst we're here in a trainer frame of mind.

Does anyone know what these trainers are called or where to buy them? My girlfriend wants them and I've drawn a blank so far.

Thanks.

EDIT: Finally bothering to upload the image enabled me to Google it and I have found them straight away....

Still better looking than anything else in this thread.

Can’t think of a positive comment relating to hiking sandals though.

I have gone completely Imelda Marcos on my own ass since Christmas in the urban shoe space, having bought no fewer than a further 7 (seven - yes, seven - that's only 13 less than 20!) pairs of shoes.

I now have sufficient foot attire to see me through.

Can anyone beat a total of 8 in the last 35 days? Try if you dare! Go on, just try! I'm ready for you!

Conversely, my Nike trainers gave up the ghost about three, maybe four months ago. I'd had them about five years I think, but you know how these things you take for granted trick your brain, so it could easily have been ten for all I know.

Anyway, I still haven't bought any more to replace them. I'm simply alternating between hiking boots for casual and shoes for work or smart casual. Does a man, a real man (Greg66, you can keep out of this), need more than these?

Big questions!

I have too many pairs of shoes / boots I've decided. I only wear a handful of pairs, and in spite of how literally amazing the balance of the fleet undeniably is, I think they need to go.

Don't let them go, not unless they're falling apart.

I put loads in the loft last year and forgot about them until I got the Xmas decorations down and now it's like I've got a load of brand new shoes.
