Uploading images and avatars

Post by Clown Ice Skater #4 @ Wed Jul 26, 2017 10:13 pm

Pidge, anything you can do to increase the sizes a bit for uploading images and avatars? It's really painful sometimes and resizing an image from a phone is impossible. It doesn't have to allow giant pics, but a little increase would be super.

I'm working on an image uploader/host at the moment and was making progress until my laptop charger died. Will continue when I can be arsed to go and use the desktop.

Thing is the point about uploading images to CTF is that they will keep on working, unlike eg. those old PH threads where none of the images work any more and you've no idea what the fcuk people are on about. If I have to start deleting old ones because unnecessarily large uploads have consumed all the disk space, it will be shit...

"Impossible to resize on a phone" means that the correct target of the complaint is the phone manufacturer...

Yeah, that's a proper cnut response, Pidge. Completely useless, but technically correct (the best kind of correct!)

How much disk space is in use vs available?

i.e. is this actually a problem?

See where it says about, at the end of the red arrow?

Click that, change it to embed codes, it'll do something like this:
Image
Copy the BBcode of the relevant size and paste in your post...

Your image shall appear thus...

Now how the hell do I disable guest uploads?.....

While we're talking about Paramedics and London (allow it) when my mate was Paramedicing in London he was called out to an emergency job of a chap covered in blood getting a £3 meal deal in Tesco. He was an extra on 28 Days Later.

I can see it becoming one, it will add up fast. There's 7 images on my uploader and at 6.9MB already.
Eta: I have 767GB free

So you're down to your last 767,000 MB or so?

Shit.

Yeah, at current rates, and assuming I don't do anything with the other stuff I use my hosting for, I'll run out of space in about 100,000days

ETA: obviously I have no idea how much space CTF uses or has available... It's conceivably much worse off than I am.

Off the top of my head the disk usage is about 77% at the moment.

Interestingly, I have just had a poke around the hosting company's website and it appears that (albeit with a hefty setup fee) it is now possible to get a rather better server for rather less per month. So I shall have to have a think about what the best option would be for migrating/upgrading/paying less for the current one/etc.

Nice that they don't bother to let you know/offer that...

Ok, until a better solution presents itself, my uploader appears to be working correctly. Guest uploads are enabled but signing up may make finding your pictures easier...

To use it go to http://www.aesgarth.co.uk/uploader/
(instructions are for a phone)

Then click the big green button
Image

Select some files or take a photo, i opted for selecting files...
Image

Click the green upload button and wait while it does its thing
Image

Then to post all of them, click the drop down menu where it says embed codes...
Image

And select one of the BBcode options, depending on how you want your images to appear..
Image

Then click the little button that says copy in the box with the codes in...
Image

And paste it on here to post the images....
