remains to be seen - i haven't investigated yet. hopefully not serious, runs and smells like there's a big problem, but it could be any number of things down to something as simple as a hose clip.

Logged RPM, specified boost pressure and actual boost pressure. building no pressure at all. which means this...
Aesgarth wrote:something as simple as a hose clip.

could be right. that means i have to take it to bits again to find out which hose clip. (if it is actually that)

That's a fair size list from VCDS. Air leak on the inlet side of things maybe?
Great bit of software is VCDS. I found it invaluable when tracking down a dodgy ABS sensor on my old Audi.

ETA: Did you replace the diverter valves with uprated items? Higher boost might have overcome the standard plastic ones maybe.

Yeah I replaced the dv's. Think its a hose off on the high pressure side (well, I hope it is)

Fixed. 10 minutes and £0.00 cost. most of the 10 minutes was spent getting it on the ramp. actual fix was more like 2

Replacing the rear discs and pads, got the calipers in bits to do a rebuild and discover that half the internals of one piston are missing, making it next to impossible to put back together - whoever has done this job previously presumably lost a bit.

fcuks sake. i'll find out on monday if i can buy the parts seperately (unlikley) or if i need a whole new caliper.

I have no idea. they also had the heatshield on backwards. at the weekend i'm going to take the "good" piston apart and see if i can make the missing part out of a bit of stainless bar or if it's too complicated. Apparently you can't buy the individual parts. It looks complicated but it may just be a case of turning a bit of stainless to the right size and drilling a couple of holes in the right places - can't see enough to tell with the circlip in the way.

So this cnut is still on axle stands with no wheels on. I ordered some new rear calipers from euro car parts, used the reg number search to find the right ones, there were options so I picked the ones with the right piston size and ordered them. Compared them to the old ones when they aarrivedand they looked identical, so I painted them. Attempted to fit them only to find that the brake line fitting on the calipers is m12 and the fitting on the brake line is m10. Attempted to come up with a solution with euro car parts but they were utterly useless and as unhelpful as they could be. Now looking at getting custom brake lines made and getting thoroughly pissed off in the process. It seems like everything I do just adds another 2 days to the time it's off the road.

:hehe: I realise that. In my defence given that they looked the same and were listed based on my cars reg no. I thought it was a fairly safe assumption that they were the right parts. What's confusing me at the moment is why it seems impossible to get a brake line that fits these calipers.

I saw that wheeler dealer shit on tv last night. He was fixing a Range Rover.
EVERY fvcking nut and bolt just undid. Every part he replaced fitted and solved the problem.

I know it's tv and you can't have him standing there grunting "come on you fvcker! undo you bastard! oh shit! fvck! cnut! straight through my fvcking bastard cvnting finger YOU BASTARD!!!!!!!!" <throws every tool across garage>" but it would make me feel less inadequate if it fvcked up a bit now and again.

It's fixed. In fact I fixed it on tuesday night. I've been using it for the last two days and remembering how fun and how thirsty it is. In related news the exhaust is blowing so it makes a hell of a lot of noise and I need 3 new tyres. One of them is losing 20psi over 24 hours and the spare is utterly fcuked. So much so it's sitting in the garage as there's no point carrying it.

Exhaust sleeve is why there's smoke coming out the side. Should be about 15-20 quid to replace. The reason there's smoke in the first place is probably a blown turbo. We'll see when I take it apart again. Hopefully I can get it repaired, although I'm a bit concerned about why it's failed so soon..
