New Arrival: Mitsubishi Shogun V6

General car gossip.

Yup, YDI G80. It's better than the Aukey (£10 better) - it has the stabilisation as well as loads more menu options for things like FOV or time lapse or wev.

I use a tri-suction mount for outside the car, with a stainless steel tether just in case. But it's never fallen off. And in that second video you can see it took a battering from brambles and twigs and stuff.

I have done some video with it mounted on the back or the side too, but it's not been very interesting. I could upload some of that anyway though, so you can see.

I've been learning Shortcut, and that gives me lots of control over the video export settings once I've edited - which is why the last video looks so HD. I didn't compress the file at all, and that three minutes was 3gb.

What charger did you get Revol? I've thought about getting one too, as I've now got four of the same batteries (two each for two cameras), but can only charge them when they're actually in the camera.

Thisone DaTho. I'm pretty sure it'll suit the YDI batteries after a quick Google and measure of the batteries I've already got. Hang on till Saturday and I'll confirm if it does.
I'm using a Goliton suction mount and it's a 100% copy of the official GoPro mount. Seems solid so far but I've used it with a tether too.

Thanks Revol. I was looking at this one, because of the higher capacity batteries.

And orange.

Can report the batteries and charger suit the YDI camera fine. Even comes with a USB cable.
Also, I made this:

For everybody who's been waiting for this to happen: the Shogun has broken.

The power steering went on the way back from gymnastics this morning, leaving me wrenching away at the wheel with my stringy arms burning.

There's a belt or pump gone or something I suppose. I'll get the man in the village to look at it, because if I try to I'll just end up with it in pieces and never actually mended.

Wow, that must be one of the heaviest cars ever to drive without power steering.

My power steering is developing an issue, I can feel it through the wheel when turning, obviously. I have an idea it just needs the fluid replacing though. Time will tell because it'll be going in for a service next month.

Sadface. The crank pulley had come off the end of the crank shaft, taking the power steering belt with it. And also the drive to the water pump, which means I drove it home and then to the garage with no water cooling the engine. Which might mean head gasket kaput, might not.

It didn't overheat in the four miles I limped it back, so my man is hopeful.

They're going to put it back together with new pulley and belt and hopefully it will work.

The bloke from the garage also asked "have you off roaded it a bit?"

Yes, I have. A bit.

"Yes. It looks a lovely clean truck, but then you open the bonnet and everything's just covered in mud".

Ah.

Four miles at fairly low revs on the road in the middle of winter is vanishingly unlikely to have done the head gasket Dibs. I wouldn't even worry about that.

I always do that.

I don't know why, maybe it's just because you both start with a D.
