Love it!

Perfect colour combination, I'm no photographer as you can see, so not the best interior shots:

It's brilliant and I'm totally smitten already.

Very nice. One of the best sounding cars out there.

Who did those donuts?

eta a surprisingly intuitive clickwheel system, right up until you have to enter an address to the satnav.

Very nice, love those subtle arches.

Did you used to have an RS6 at some point?

No, but I was this >< close to buying one of the new ones to be released next year.

Whilst sitting in the Audi dealership I worked out that the depreciation was likely to be something like 40k in 4 years, so I used that to buy the RS4 instead.

I'll probably buy the RS6 once they're a couple of years old.

Still think it looks mega and I HATE Audi’s. Lovely colour combo and yes the wheel click bullshit nonsense is horrid.

Cool, couldn't remember....you’ve had a few nice ones.

I reckon the VFM is better on the 4.

I don't remember having a problem with it when I had one. The Merc has voice recognition, which works sometimes, a pad you can write each letter on, which is great if you're left handed but shit otherwise, or touch screen which is ok if you're stopped. None of them are perfect.

Excellent choice, you should release a Top Trumps custom pack of cars you have owned when you get up to 52.

It's best described as Ivory, Audi call it Lunar Silver - I suppose it's a little silvery, it's totes lovely and really goes well with the blue exterior.

Some observations from driving it home yesterday and to the station this morning:

It's a car of two characters, below 5k it just potters about quietly and without any fuss - it sits at 1k in 7th and is silky smooth. Put your foot down and it BELTS down the gears (the DSG is brilliant), the revs pick up to 5k and it SMASHES round to the 8.2k (!!!) red line in a staggeringly brutal way. The noise is a really angry bellow, very addictive.

It’s a really interesting change from the torque-rich forced induction V8s that I’ve had in the last few cars, the high revving V8 is an absolute joy.

LOVE IT.

Right, just had a go at this and it was a doddle, letters and numbers in a circle, select the ones you want - what am I missing?

Excellent choice Doots. A mate had an earlier iteration of the RS4 estate and it was an absolute fcuking missile. As they get faster with each gen, I can only guess what this must be like.

Looks lovely, and a great spec.
I've the earlier B7 Avant with effectively the same engine, but a manual 6 speeder. I imagine the auto 7 is quicker, but also gives a better cruise. Do you have active suspension on the B8?

My RS4 has required some upkeep with all the expensive bits needing replacement, and is currently on 130k but I can see me keeping it for a good while yet as I'd have to up the investment to get something comparable. That's how much I like the mix of the manual gearbox, high revving engine and capacity of the estate.

As the roads get greasy, these sort of cars come into their own as they are so capable when the weather is shitty. They just lap it up.
Mine does the daily commute on fairly free flowing roads, gives an average of 28mpg in those situations, and also gets treated like a van, swallowing furniture, building materials, gas cylinders, bikes and music clobber with ease.

Postcodes were a pain in the arse. Instead of typing GU12 7TP onto a touchscreen you had to click round to G, click round to U, select numbers, select 1, click to 2, click round to 7, select letters, click round to to T, click round to P.

Also annoying was that when they changed the models the click wheel direction changed. I.e. it used to be clockwise for up then on the newer model it was clockwise for down. Rage.

Oh yeah, I'd prefer a touchscreen.

Yes, it's got the active suspension - it's fitted with the sports and performance packs which includes the active exhausts and dynamic/variable steering etc.

You're right about the 4WD - the difference in the wet and shit is amazing, so confidence inspiring. In fact, it was the 4WD in my wife's Golf R that really pushed me towards it.
