Was getting quite enthusiastic about one of these. Whats the difference between SR2 ST3 ST1 etc?

Good idea - but I prefer them in the coupe version they did before the 2 Series launched.

I just got one, the previous model GT, and love it (albeit still in the honeymoon period), for a mass market car it looks really well designed.

I just remember loads of stuff going wrong with my old one that I have never even heard of going wrong on a car, and it being quite expensive to fix. Just irritating. The only one I can actually remember was a handbrake cable rusting to the inside of whatever tube carried it so I had to replace it all. It was pretty expensive and I just thought "Is that even a thing?"

Fair enough, being reliable is he most important quaity for a car to have, I think they have improved in recent times but I'm not standing over that as a pledge or anything,

Just different trim levels but not sure what changed in each one. I think 3 was leather seats but strictly a 4 seater with no centre rear seat or belt. Silly in a hatch imo so went for the 2.

Don't worry about high mileage in them. It's the Volvo T5 engine. Very low stress and police used to do intergalactic miles in them. Ours is 100 and something k and, touch wood, has been extremely reliable. No major bills other than normal consumables.

It became my wife’s car when I changed to company cars a decade back. It’ll be frickin 14yrs old in March! One owner from new.
