Celebrity Master Chef

Some things cultured but mostly films and telly stuff.

Celebrity Master Chef

Post by Grass Widow @ Mon Sep 12, 2011 2:17 pm

Has now been relegated to afternoon tv, its on at 2.15pm every afternoon this week with a catch up programme on Friday evening.

Has it lost its appeal?

I thought the new format for the last Master Chef has spoilt the whole appeal. We watched the first few episodes and then gave up.

All too much focus on the chef (or cook is only worthy title for some of them) and nothing on the cooking anymore.

Masterchef has become a parody of itself. It's so ridiculous and over the top now.

Hooray! Celebrity Masterchef started again last night and we watched it with glee. The first round of contestants included Vic Reeves (all serious now and being called Jim Moir again), Julia Somerville (ancient newsreader and now seemingly a harmlessly dotty old witch) and Angellica Bell (apparently a telly presenter, but someone I've only ever seen as a contestant on Celebrity somethingorother. Plus others.

Even though it was the very first round, already the clebs were dropped into lunch service at a professional kitchen, so CM seems determined to race through its own format this time and crank up the jeopardy straight away. I've never seen as much sweat in my life as I saw tsunamiing off Angellica Bell's face as she medium-rared burgers over a griddle plate the size of my dining room.

Still to come: the lovely Debbie Magee, so we can pry into exactly what she put on the table that saw off Paul Daniels. Ulrikakaka - which would make a nice final vs Vic Reeves, dolphin-faced Rebecca Adlington (no doubt entiurely preparing fish dishes), Rachel Stevens, S-Club stunnah from pop history. And Barney Harwood off Blue Peter, so we can see what he made earlier. Get it? haha.

e: just watching it after dinner made me so hungry again that I had a big bag of crisps.

I know!

Paul Daniels opened a Magic Shop in Wigan run by his son, Paul Daniels. He had stories to tell about Debs, and when she closed the shop after Paul Daniels died, Paul Daniels got arrested for having a cannabis farm at his home. Not particularly relevant to Master Chef but there you go.

There is an alleged dossier of Debbie McGee + Alsatians images that the press keeps under wraps in its 'grot locker'. The locker is full of such stuff apparently, ready to be used if needed...
