This has been doing festival rounds for ages, but now it's actually coming out. It's a new film, but how excellently 70s and Argento is this?

This might be good, not sure. Not enough decent Sci Fi these days.

Passengers. Looks like Red Dwarf meets Silver Linings Playbook meets The Martian. In a good way.

I can't wait as BR is one of my fave films but also know it'll be shit. Even a year in advance I can tell it'll be shit.

Agreed, Dr C. Just like Rollerball, Get Carter and the Italian Job.

eta: Where is Rachel?

Depressing. Though Gosling probably channels the right sort of mood for the setting...Ford not needed though. It will just seem forced and shit.

I have no idea what you mean as that film does not exist!

As far as I can tell, the ONLY way a BR sequel would be even remotely palatable, is if it simply told another story from the same setting. It's rich enough that one can well imagine whilst Decakrd was doing his thing, another guy in another part of town had his thing going on.

That might be interesting to watch, but as far as I'm concerned, they've told the Blade Runner story. I don't want to know definitively what happened to Rachael, whether she lived, how they escaped etc etc. It will just ruin it.

I hope it's not like Prometheus, a really good first 15 minutes then gradually turning into a boring action space yarn.

Well that's the thing I guess, this unicorn was the symbol that Deckard was a replicant, as was Rachel, with a short life span. Only in the silly happy ending version did she have a longer life span, thus it bodes badly that Ford is in it again, unless he's not playing Deckard.

The other big problem is that almost universally creative types get less inventive as they get older. Prometheus and Crystal Shit being cases in point.

O/T but I'm terrified of this as it seems a universal truism. I'm already worrying about it and trying to establish a way of recognising it as it's happening :(

I'm sure I won't, but I think the trick is to ensure I'm rich and corpulent enough to no longer care when I don't ;)
