We’re rewatching Luther on NF. It really was such a brilliant series. Elba absolutely acts the shit out of it.

I am over the actual moon to have discovered that Ash Vs evil Dead is now on Netflix, and I instantly caned 3 episodes in one mouthful. It is bloody brilliant and every bit as fab as I dared not even dream it would be.

I also watched some of Magic For Humans, which is obv a magic show, but excellent. The host is wry and hilarious and v good at interacting with all sorts of people. And magic.

Love it!

Is Luther really that good ?

It’s been on my watch list for months but I struggle with anything that’s too serious.

ETA, I’m watching Scrubs at the minute and am lolling a lot. I’ve even ROFLed a few times.

Luther is dead good.

There's new Luther coming at Christmas too, so time is running out to be ready.

Luther is excellent. I really enjoyed it and I am not normally a fan of police dramas in particular.

We have started watching season 3 of The Last Kingdom, so far, it's very good, and much more violent than when it was on bbc, interestingly.

Norsemen.

It's brilliant, funny, understated and somehow warm - watch it immediately.

I just read a review of that as I'd spotted it on Amaflix and wondered what it was. I'm adding it to my ever growing list of things to watch.

For the elder CTFer in particular I strongly recommend The Kominsky Method. Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin gently and amusingly angsting out over age and death.

Because I must have been really bad in a past life, MrsHGL has - after catching a couple of episodes of the current series - decided that we're going to watch The Walking Dead, from the beginning.

I figured she'd get bored after the first few ep's and we could move on to something else. But alas no, (probably as a result of my past life crimes) we're almost done with the 2nd series and she's fully engaged.

How is it still going? Bored, bored, bored.

And the first couple of seasons were probably the best / most exciting / the most stuff happened.

It just gets slower, drearier and more depressing as it goes on.

The most recent series aired on Sky and it was just ridiculous - beyond awful.

Right well first, I really hope I haven't pressured you into liking this!

Creepy and sad - exactly! Throughout, I really found the creepiness bearable (and my tolerance is not usually high) because I bought into the characters and felt genuinely sad for them. The creepiness moment of the whole series was also the saddest.

I actually want to watch it all again already.

Not at all, I wanted to continue watching but had to get DH to watch the first one otherwise I’d be waiting forever! I like it a lot - you are right about the characters, I think.

In each season there are only three good episodes. The first one, the last one and one in the middle. The others just drag you to those three.

It’s quite an odd thing because I watch it despite its shortcomings. Maybe its appeal is that it is paced like real life, and filled with the same amount of humdrumness between the punctuating excitement. Unlike real life the excitement is a bit more life and death though.

I am absolutely loving Ash Vs Evil Dead at the moment. I'm a big fan of the ED from back in the day, and was dismayed to discover that this series was showing on the one channel I didn't seem to have paid for. But now thanks to Netflix I can see whether it loves up to my self-imposed hype. It more than does. It is brilliant; very funny, wry and witty, self-deprecating and astonishingly gory (way more so than the films ever were). I've caned through the first series in two big gulps.

As zombie stuff goes, it's the absolute opposite of The Walking Dead.

I binged the first series of Ash and really enjoyed it but completely lost interest while waiting for the second.
I can’t see me going back to it either for some reason.

Bandersnatch, the latest Blackmirror offering, quite good but more endings than Lord of the rings Return of the king, and even then I didn't watch all of them, I think you can access more of them depending on the phone number you input towards the end, or at other points where you can choose the outcome. I liked the evocation of the 1980's but I also didn't care that much what happened to the central character.

Will you go through it again to see how it could pan out?
