What have you watched on telly?

God it really was. Anyone confused about the meaning of the word “hubris” ought to watch it.

Watching now.

Shit.

Watched it last night. Bloody hell. Wonder if it’ll ever get finished?

Oh, I forgot to ask. Is anybody watching The Circle? I'm really enjoying it, it's become a real taking point in the Thorn house.

I watched last year's too, but I'm enjoying it even more this time. Only a few days to go and there's at least three people still plugging away in there that is be happy to see win. Which is quite the surprise, as I usually hate people.

Stop what you're doing!

Go and watch the first episode of the new Watchmen series. It's incredible. Horrifying and terrifying and yet simply a story of the fight against crime. Jam packed with moments that callback to the film of a decade ago, and even to notes from the graphic novel years before that, but absolutely its own thing that doesn't rely on, or even expect you to be familiar with the source.

Stuffed with superb performances and mysterious elliptical plotting, showing a fully formed alt-2019 where Robert Redford has been President for 30 years and the police have to wear masks to protect their identities from criminals. I am slightly furious that it's dropping weekly and I can't just binge the series immediately.

Watch it now please.

Safe. On Netflix.

Preposterously bad. Comical.

That's after 3 eps, and I'm dead keen to see how it ends now!

Watchmen is on Sky Atlantic, or on demand on Sky.

Ta. Still love that I can pick my phone up and tell my Sky box to download E1 and set a series link to record the rest of the Es.

The answer to this and all TV/movie questions can be answered by the excellent JustWatch app.

I don't really get it.

If I want to watch something on Prime/Netflix then I just open that app and it knows where I'm up to.

With Sky if I'm recording a series, again it knows where I am.

JustWatch seems handy if you don't know where something is, but what else beyond that ?

That's exactly what it is though. It doesn't need to do anything else. It's the first place I check when I decide I want to watch something, and I can find where/if something is streaming without having to tediously search through Netflix and Sky and Prime.

Oh right, I thought it did something fancy like tie all your accounts into one place so you watched things through that instead of opening Prime\Netflix\Sky.

Saves an often fruitless Google then.

The cow scene was utterly incongruous and yet ace. A grim action centerpiece to something that wasn't about action otherwise.

Just watched fab new ep of Travel Man, in Dubrovnik with Steven Merchant. Properly funny, with the ramshackle banter really working instead of tumbling into incomprehensible chaos as it sometimes can.

"Sorry, that's my WhatsApp ringtone!"

- oh, who is it?

"Ho-ho. It's The Rock".

Just fantastic.

I liked the subtle references to things from the book that the feature film ignored. Like squid.

Don’t have Sky, kid, so I guess I’ll have to wait until it pops up on Apple TV or similar.

Anyone watching Godless on Netflix? For once, it’s a good Netflix series.

Or a Chrome cast if you prefer not to apple. My dad's LG smart TV also does voice control... Not so sure how good it is though.

Sky box and Firestick can be used with voice, not sure if the tv can be (there’s an app for it but I don’t use it). I spend more time talking to the electronic devices than I do my wife !

do they search all the apps though? The Apple TV new software now links all your accounts which is handy if you don’t know which app or catch-up a program is on.

Just been reading about Watchmen and the opening scenes in Tulsa which actually happened. Embarrassed to say I knew nothing about it.

That was exactly what happened to me. Watching that scene in the programme made a pang of white shame flare up in me, and then once I read about it and discovered it was true AND that is known nothing about it, I felt even worse.
