Alarms - any good?

I've got to remove the alarm on one of Mrs Hooli's bikes as it's died & won't disarm. Is it worth replacing it?

My opinion is not, as they don't seem to stop bikes getting stolen & just add something to fail in the arse end of nowhere.

Pointless things IME. All they seem to do is drain the battery.

Depends where you park though I guess as to whether it could be useful for you.

That's my opinion too. The only time I've thought it was useful is when we've been abroad & stayed in large towns or cities.

Removed it last night. Just over an hour to a nice neat job with heat shrink etc where the loom was cut. Bike runs fine now & I don't think we'll bother fitting a replacement alarm.
