If I'd asked permission before I set out on this path, I never would have done it. I told Mrs Thorn about it once I'd booked up and paid for the lessons.

She's still not happy about it almost a year later.

In fact, I received loads of negative response from my whole family. My parents assumed I would immediately kill myself, the children were in tears every time I left for a lesson - convinced they'd never see me alive again.

And now Mrs Thorn is even more cross because the children have changed their minds. My daughter has asked for a crash helmet and riding gear for her upcoming (11th) birthday. My son wants to learn to ride as soon as he's old enough.

Wife is livid.

Oh well!

Give one a go, you might like the way it delivers its power.

As per TS above, I'd give a Guzzi a go if I were you, you might like the lazy power delivery and less gear changes.

I like singles and twins, would even consider an MV triple, but doubt I would ever own a 4 cyl again.

That Fantic looks great, very different from the Caballeros I remember as a kid, werent they a mini chopper back in the 70's ?

I rode a mates SWM SM650R (supermoto) last weekend, its a remake of a Husky SM630 and I am trawling the ads for a smoto of some description. The SWM is cheap but I think parts/accessories are/will be an issue in NZ. He cant even find a pipe to fit and will have to get a link pipe made specially.

Finance approval has become an issue for me now but may bite the bullet and smash my credit card to bits on a KTM.

Thirded.

I like a torque monster more than a top end screamer. Get a Guzzi! Get the one I sent you!!

My boss has a few bikes including a Guzzi. Not sure which model but for longer rides (eg down to Cornwall) he prefers to take it.

I bought some Kevlar stuff for riding, and it arrived in this excellently forthright box -

e: trouble is, this kind of shonkiness makes me wonder how effective the "Kevlar" would be...

I'd like to think they have spent the big bucks on product development and farmed out the packaging

I seriously need to update this thread after this weekend. Another, as always, terrific couple of days at Casa Nervosa.

Ha! Well done.

I've got a couple of pictures for you, before I write up my update. These are the bikes I've spent the weekend riding; the MV all day Saturday, the BMW all day today.

That BMW looks awesome !
Obv the MV would be amazing to ride but the BMW just looks so cool IMO.
If I'd seen it 10 years ago I would have presumed it was scrap or laughed at it, how times/opinions change

I had my motorbike stolen last week.
Third time I have had a bike stolen.
Fourth, actually.
The only interesting thing is that this time I was fcuking delighted because I hate that bike so much. So very very much.
Plus it had stuff wrong with it.
I am never buying an Italian motorbike again.

Sorry or glad to hear that TT (delete as appropriate)

Will you bother getting another one, seeing as it will apparently inevitably be stolen?

Told my boss and he’s pissed off with you for making the insurance on his bikes go up. Says to tell you stop being an arse and having your bikes stolen. OK?

I won’t be securing it but it’s round the back and easy to move around so it should be okay

Not my fault! I pay sub-£100 per year for my bike insurance so perhaps he needs to do a bit better and mover to a nicer area where things don't get sto.....oh

Pain in the arse for you TT! Even if you hated the bike, having it stolen is a bastard.

Admittedly, like everyone else I'm startled that the bike you loved, you hated. But wev. What will you get to replace it with? Perhaps something with some security features?

It's a 911. A blue one. It's really nice although ages ago when I took my son or for a ride in it he was instantly terrified and kept asking me to slow down when I wasn't even going fast because it's so very very loud.

All of Nerv's things are very very loud. When we started up the BMW yesterday morning and left it running for a few minutes to warm up, the woman from the house opposite his came out to complain about the noise.

I'd suggest a different postcode if that's the 4th time. They can't all have had crap security surely

Or are motorbikes more vulnerable to theft than cars?

In the post quoted below TT it says you parked it round the back. Was that the case when it was nicked or did you get lazy and leave it out front? Because if out the back it sounds like you were targeted a bit

Massively so. I can't think of any cars that could easily be lifted into the back of a small van by 2 reasonably strong people...

I like the look of that BMW but bet it's horrible to ride any distance on? I was offered a K100 (which I think that one was originally) the other day by an old woman who couldn't ride it any longer and briefly considered doing similar as a project.

It's not a K100 at all of course. R80 maybe?
