Never mind about that... the one on the left is ONE second out!

Or TWO of them are ONE second out!!! Gasp!

What's the point in wearing an ugly if it isn't accurate?
You might as well wear a Rolex and just have a rough idea of the time.

The one on the left is probably wrong. The middle and right-hand ones are definitely radio-controlled ("multi band 6").

They're all radio controlled, and solar powered, I don't bother otherwise.

They're not the best looking watches, but like whoever it was said, I don't care, they do what I want.

My G is like Foo's far left one and I love it. Indestructible, accurate, solar, lit*, day&date etc - really is perfect as a watch, just shows how much 'we' want from a watch that isn't the basics.

* as in illuminated, not lit brrrrrrap!

Samsung Galaxy watch. Basically a round Korean Apple Watch.

Masses of sporting, HR and gps features. It delivers your text and WhatsApp messages to be read (but not sent) and mirrors your iPhone notifications (BBC news alerts, Amazon deliveries etc).

It can take and make calls but you never do that. The good thing is your wrist buzzes and tells you who’s calling, very useful if you’re already on a call or if your phone is in a pocket.

I was sceptical how useful it would be before I got it but I’m a big fan. You can change the strap too to smarten it up.

Is the whole face a digital display then? Cool, if so.

So

Touchscreen and you swipe up/down/left/right to different pages. Plus the bezel rotates which is actually useful.

Oh yeah it syncs with your iPhone calendar. It just reminded me we’re going to Go Ape tomorrow.

Also, waterproof.

I have a new fitbit which buzzes when I get a message and I was accidentaly rude to a man in a shop on Friday as he was doing something for me (blowing up helium balloons) and I was getting messages and kept checking my watch which, to the lay-balloons-man, looks like I'm being performatively In A Hurry. I realised and didn't apologise because in the moment I was worried I'd seem more of a wanker with my wrist triage!

I’d not considered that aspect of a smart watch span. Did you have to tap the screen at any point to make it even worse?

So like a round Apple Watch then.

Wrist triage is ace. Wouldn’t be without mine now, never expected to say that.

Since switching to a smartwatch there seem little point in getting a smart watch as I'll almost never wear it. Although I still hanker after a Zenith Elite Chrono.

Since July last year I've been running a Garmin Fenix 5+ as my beater. It ticks all the HR, sports tracking and triage boxes and stores shedloads of podcasts to listen to on flights. It also has Garmin pay which I've never gotten around to using. It comes with the titanium strap per the pics below and has a silicone one for when I'm riding into trees at speed.

Like TK's Samsung you can mess around with the displays though I normally have it on one of the first two, I added the Speedy & Seamaster ones so I could pretend to be in CJ's Omegang...

Loving the Rolex content.
I prefer the mechanical nature of an automatic, although I do have a few quartz watches, so I don't see me moving to a smart watch any time soon, even though I can see the advantage.

I too have a bit of a random selection of fairly cheap watches by comparison.
- 1972 Seiko mech. chronograph (blue face, yellow hands)
- 1998 Seiko Sportura chronog. (titanium case and bracelet) that I bought with my first pay packet
- Luminox navy seal (black/yellow)
- Ocean 7 GMT with PDV case
- 2018 Longines VHP Gold Coast edition (super accurate chip controlled quartz)
- Seiko 5, mech dress watch
- LIP circle within a circle, quartz curio.
- Panerai Lum. copy

I always loved the Sinn 556, but have scratched the aesthetic itch with some of the above.

I'm currently hankering after a Farer Chronograph or a sliver Fugue
Quite like the no nonsense approach of Undone

Those Garmin pics do it no justice whatsoever, I wear mine 99% of the time, I have an Omega DeVille and actually took it to a jeweller on Sunday to part ex against a Tag Monaco Auto after wearing it the night before at a meal and deciding it looked too small on my wrist, but he offered me £600 and I decided against that, given it's a watch that's selling second hand online for £1500 still.

I also have another Omega that my grandfather gave me, gold bezel, but a nice dress watch and different, but I just don't feel comfortable wearing it, I don't think it's particularly valuable, but it's nice to look at.

As I said, Garmin all the way....phone notifications, can answer phone on it, all the GPS shit you can throw a stick at...even used it for skiiing ...cool for top speed stuff!

Still want the Monaco though.

I have two really nice watches (a men's Tag and an IWC) but haven't worn either for ages because they kept catching on the edge of my desk while I was using the keyboard. Thinking about it, I must get them out again (ooerr).
