Not a fan of nylon or fabric as it makes me sweat like a bugger and eventually the damn things stink. I have a watch with a Velcro nylon strap and not only does it make me sweat but it scratches like hell too. I have a Skagen with a really comfy silicone strap but they get manky quite quickly.

While I'm here.....anyone on here have a spare link for a Bi-Metal Tag Pro 2000? The link near the clasp if possible? Just a chance.....

Does anyone know anything about Invicta watches? They don't seem very expensive, and I've seen one that I really like:

Well. Not once in all the photos and web pages did I think of it as "ginger". And yet your mind went straight there.

Looks like a knock-off Rolex, because it is. And it's ginger.

Why would they do that? Why would they move the bezel forward 57 clicks and leave it like that before taking a picture? For that reason alone I will not buy it.

Otherwise, of course, you will run out of air if you accidentally knock it whilst diving. Not, of course, that anyone in their right mind would put their life in the hands of a cheap beater.

New acquisition - Kobold 323, or Sinn 156 in drag if you like. Latter-day descendant of the Heuer Bundeswehr. Only 20 of these made. Lemania 5100 movementImage

Homage, Moog? You're kidding me? It's a Sinn 156, i.e. Sinn military.

Yes I know. I was using it tongue in cheek, hence the italics. All the same the Heuer has been around the 60s and the Kobold came along in 2003, with impeccable lineage through Sinn of course.

It's a fabulous thing and I love it unconditionally, be assured :)

Edit - looks like a good price you got too. I'd pay that for one.

Whoosh!

Always been slightly wary of the Bund. So many have been "restored". Current prices over £5k, seems excessive really for a workhorse tool watch.

Very nice those Kobolds.

Here's my first generation 156 -

And the Sternzeit Bund variant:

Not sure if this warrants it's own thread and as it's technically about a watch, I'll put it here instead.

I seem to have killed my Fitbit Surge and want to replace it but can't decide what with.

I could get another Fitbit, but I'm a little pissed that it's died after only a couple of years of abuse and moreover at their lack of aftersales support.

If they had a HR monitor I'd be getting a Tag Connected, but they don't; so I won't.

TomTom & Polar look too plasticky so I'm leaning towards Garmin. Having started at the bottom end of the range I now find myself looking at Fenix 5's, Descents & Chronos at the top end of their range.

Anyone here have a garmin? That can offer any insight ?

HR, GPS & waterproof are the 3 must haves.

I use an Epson Runsense and it's been way better than the previous Garmin. I've got a SF810 which does GPS, HR, waterproof but having had a quick look it seems they've stopped it! Maybe available over there but I guess if they're not doing them anymore, support might be an issue.

I've not seen them mentioned anywhere, so I guess not an option. It's a shame as it looks to be exactly what I need.

On our golf trip to Phuket one of the guys had a Garmin that told him the distance to the green from anywhere on the course which was kind of clever and ridiculous in equal measure.

Some people at work have them and the straps keep breaking. Fitbit have been changing them under warranty but it's really put me off them. One girl is on her 6th strap.

After about a year, my strap started to go at the point the watch was fixed to it and then just stayed that way for next year & a bit. It started getting ropey about charging and then the touchscreen became unreliable and then it's just stopped doing anything.

My daughter has a Fitbit and the strap broke on hers. The clip in fact, where the strap clips off so you can put other ones on. I just bought her some from Amazon in a few girly colours for a couple of quid. Quality looks at least as good as the OEM.

Shudders at the thought!

I had to stop to get my haircut on the way home tonight and there was a shop that sells all sorts of tech between where I parked & where I was getting cut so I called in to have a look. They had Polar, Fitbit TomTom, Garmin & Suunto so I had a good try of all. My dive computer is Suunto and I like that so, I was hopeful that it would work out as it was also one of the cheaper ones they had.

The guy was really knowledgeable about the pros & cons of all the different ones I tried and I eventually settled on Garmin, now I just have to decide if I go for a Fenix 5 which has all the bits I need and some, a 5+ which has additional music, mapping & better GPS capabilities with a S$300 premium or a Descent that does all that the 5+ does and is a better dive computer than my Suunto but has a S$600 premium over the Fenix 5.

I really like the Descent, but it is a tad on the large size for a daily and it's got a silvery bezel which is a bit shiny compared to the all black Fenix, I also have my Suunto dive computer so don't really need the extra dive capabilities, but....
