Well I never, I never realised that the moon didn't turn around! So the far side / dark side is ALWAYS the dark side? How odd. Does that mean the sunny side is really warm?

Doesn't seem right somehow. Something should be done! Poor moon.

No, the far side gets as much light as near side and both sides only get some. Near side faces the earth, not the sun

The same side always faces earth, but the whole surface (iirc) does get sunlight (and darkness) at some point - which is why we see moon phases.. Far side would be a better description than dark side.

edit: what he said ^^

OH right, yes of course.

Still very interesting though. I'm going to see if Mr Span knew, but I'll have to phrase it carefully - if I say 'did you know...' then he'll say yes of course. So I'll have to ask him another question about the moon to work out if he knows, because I reckon he doesn't.

Could the combined efforts of mankind turn the moon round so that the other side gets to face the Sun? If we attached booster rockets to it or something perhaps. Don’t press me on the details, I’m a big ideas man.

Since you asked. I've just done all that is necessary. The other side of the moon will get the sun just as much as the near side.

Happy?

Yes, nothing new, but a great photo. As someone that's looked at the moon through a telescope a lot, that's fantastic. We don't get to see that often.

Poor lunar landing deniers. Imagine being thick as shit? Hard isn't it.

I wonder how much overlap there is between the following groups

Lundar Landing Deniers
Flat Earthers
Anti-vaxxers
Brexit proponents
Trump voters

More images from the pacific conflict here, a couple are grim but they've spoilered them so you don't have to see them, but who can resist a spoiler tag?

Quick update on this: he definitely didn't know. I started asking about the moon and stuff, and ended up saying 'did you know..." and he slowly said "yeeaahhh, I think I proba-..." but I was prepared and I said "No! You didn't know until it was in the news did you?" and he said "Mmm I'm not sure i'd thought about it" so I let it go, saying I hadn't really thought about it either.
