Your best photo(s), in your opinion, ever

Happy snappers.

Your best photo(s), in your opinion, ever

Post by foo @ Fri Feb 03, 2017 8:16 pm

Have we done this before? Not that I can see.

I'll just shift some over to my hosting and reply to my own post in a bit. Let's have a look then.

I'm trying to inspire myself to get out with the camera more, it's been a while and I miss it. I like these but I think I'm a bit out of practice now.

Yeah but these weren't taken "lately". This thread is different. Not worse, not better, but different.

It's an inflatable rock you take with you to create foreground interest isn't it?

I love those. If I were to be critical, to me, the first is far too overprocessed. The second though, wow.

It's really not. Sometimes, things are just that colour. I did push things a little in post, but not much.

Fair enough! I think I just prefer subtler shots. The second is really great.

I think those pictures are mostly brilliant. Absolutely love them.
Except the cat one which is like something my son would take on his Nintendo.

Hah, the one of our cat is the only one I've had published, it was a finalist in a competition a few years ago.

Like the gig one Monty, gig photography is usually quite hard because of the dark backgrounds and spotlights.

Ta. This was The Darkness I photographed a couple of years ago at a festival. I was right at the front of the audience which luckily wasn't vast hence my being able to spend a while snapping away. In fact I was really pleased with several of the shots...this was the Nikkor 70-200mm at it's absolute best as no flash was allowed. I kind of brought home the old adage of 'decent glass'!

It annoys me greatly when non-togs say "Er, your flash didn't go off!?!" when taking photos in low light with a fast lens. Greatly.

I was offered the non-paying-but-access-all-areas job of being the Togfest (note the 'tog' part has nothing to do with the shortened term for 'photographer', which I detest) photographer this year but because of no 70-200, or any long glass at all, I had to decline. Sad times.

Great shot though.

I'm very sorry Otto, it's just one of those things. I have a reason behind it (which is IT related) but it doesn't pertain to you since you're a decent photographer.
