Want that Panda.

I had a look on eBay after seeing that, and promptly changed my mind.

I've seen it in the flesh and I still want it.

That Panda looks horrific.

I painted it in a pop-up gazebo with a HVLP gun and cheapshit Earlex blower, First I painted it in the original Thistle Green.....looked crap, bought black paint, painted it in that....looked crapper. Mixed the green and black I had left and a tin of emerald I found somewhere and this was the result. TBH it needs block sanding and repainting as it was my first attempt at metallic paint and only my second ever car I painted in total....using a gun designed to paint a garden fence didn't help.

Er...

I'm out!

Little bit of inspiration for the Panda.

The Merc is bloody gorgeous all over, especially the interior.

I was referring to the Merc. Afterward I spent three weeks flat sanding the damn thing to get the imperfections out. There's still some wobbles in the paint but it's presentable. The Panda is red with a hint of ingrained dirt.

I just want it for biffing about in the garden and letting the kids drive.

Me is being hyper critical, which is normal for someone honestly describing their own work, he's used to looking at £20k show car resprays, the merc looks very good for a 30 year old car (? just guessing the age).

1980 reg so 37 now. Getting on! Still sounds like a V8 though and still pulls like a train. I need to change the steering wheel for the one in the Cosworth, this is in because the original one is so bloody big it kneecaps you every time you get in and is like driving a Dennis fire tender.

It's down at Norton BMW getting the code put into the new gearbox DME so I'll get some when I get it back.

In the meantime......have a look at this. Bought because I love the colour, it's a Marmite thing. Happily it's turned out to be a really nice car too!

Always amused me that the most conservative brand evaaaar released such wacky colours. For a while I coveted a purple one.

The interior is the most marmitey- even 2 years ago I would have run a mile while puking a similar colour of olive/ avocado green myself, but now I too relike it.

It's always strange how time can be kind then cruel then kind again. That shade was popular when bathroom fittings and porcelainware came in that colour, complete with clamshell edges. Somehow the bathrooms haven't yet found their vogue again.

I've been the same with cars too......Saab 900 Turbo, wouldn't touch one with a barge pole either until one day.....since had four. The interior on this was not by choice but simply because it was the only SLC I could afford, but again....I've learned to love it and based the purchase of my E46 Coupe on this car. Like an idiot I sold the E46 the other day and went straight out and bought another one in a more boring colour but better spec.

There was something about the interiors in 90's cars that seemed more inviting and warm than the techno-arid gloss of today's crop.
It's like those cars used to like having you in them, but current ones expect you to be grateful for their favour.
