I've upped the payments into my trading account.

I haven't spent it yet though.

Cost averaging.

:nono: Cost averaging doesn't work if you put the money in account but don't but the shares!

I didn't comment on C2s thread because I didn't see it. But even if I had seen it I wouldn't want to discuss shares with him - don't you recall that he admitted that every time he buys the price collapses.

On second thoughts, if we give C2 a list of shares to buy and then we wait a week....

I'm interested. I'm just in the process of opening a share account to take advantage of the economic downturn and LAY THE SMACK DOWN ON THE FTSE CHUMPS with a cautious, long-term investment plan based largely on chance.

Was meant as a tongue in cheek statement. The minute everything plunged, I upped my payment (cost averaging) but haven't been able to decide on what to buy.

At the moment I think British American Tobacco might be worth a punt.

Otherwise, it's a good time to trade in non trading AIM companies, as they're fueled by rumour and bullshit.

How many ££10k do you want me to put you down for sir?

How do I know that?

You may joke, but it's bagged me more profit in these turbulent times than anything else, obviously you need some insight into the company you choose ;)

I was only partly joking. I did invest in this company a few years back after I did some work for them

And thus It's only a loss when you close too?

Technically, i'm not losing anything then? Only that sea of red in my portfolio tends to suggest otherwise :hehe:

I have two shares out of 30 odd that are blue from purchase to date. One is my 'trading' share (AIM listed - non trading) one that I know lots about, the other is an oily with whom i've had the luck to acquire some information ;)

I just hope the divis don't dry up now :(

ETA Actually, I may be in the blue on a quite a few others, but when I changed from HSBC to Hargreaves, the purchase price shows at what the price was when I transferred, i've not bothered to look and see

I wouldn't mind having a dabble, maybe a grand or so, although every time I have had anything to do with shares in the past I have never made any money. Maybe with the current climate things may change.

I wonder if I might open a new section in here called "The Boiler Room" where we can discuss, argue, invest and speculate on the financial world.

We have a couple of very knowledgeable chaps about the place - we also have a window on the financial world via out front page.

I wonder if there is any interest...?

We have random and serious chat, Perhaps Financial Chat would be a good idea? We've probably got enough material to fill it now!

Incidentally I was looking on wikipedia about the M4 money supplyfigures - since 1982 we have 12x the amount of money (uk sterling pounds) in circulation - from ££125bn to ££1500bn+ today. Have we really had 12x growth of stuff and/or people since then?

So big G - yes please, my vote would be for a Financial Chat section alongside the other two. It would be good to keep/move financial threads to one place and a useful single place to look.

We have a business area which this sort of thing could easily fit into.

It all needs to go into business first - to show me the light....

Also, if we wanted it could be hidden. So only the boiler room boys go in there. :)
