I ate at Castellamare in Mumbles a while back and was pleasantly surprised given how dreadful the place looks.

On the pier I took an ace picture too. Wait there.

There's a story about that gorilla in the bikini.

It didn't used to have tits, it was a male gorilla called Norman, but it was kidnapped by four well prepared balaclava-clad assailants who lowered it onto a boat and scarpered with it. When it was later recovered in Cornwall someone had fibreglassed a pair of knockers on to it so the pier owners rechristened it Nansi and painted a bikini onto it to protect its modesty.

Castellamare used to be The Admiral Benbow and Neptune's nightclub. It was more of a local's haunt than Cinderellas, the direct portal to Sodom and Gomorrah which was the nightclub at the pier. I used to go a lot when I was a teenager. For a while there was a death a year from people trying to get into Cinders without paying the £4 entry fee by climbing around the rocks or shinning down the cliff behind. It was something like four people in four years.

The Diiullio family who own Castellamare also own Pizzeria Vesuvio by the Liberty Stadium which is a good place. They do a good two course lunch menu for £11.50.

I've put a piece of cheese and a slice of tomato on top of the dog.
Does that make him a greyhound pizza?

I wish Morrisons as much success as BHS.

I was in an Italian delicatessen earlier and I bought some porcini mushroom and white truffle paste because it sounded nice but I now realise I haven't a clue what to do with it. Any good ideas?

Maybe I've posted this before, cba to check.

Anyhoo, thai-style chicken with peppers and basil.

A chicken breast or so per person, sliced into medallions ~10mm thick. Thicker or thinner doesn't matter, getting them all about the same does. Some spring onions, sliced into lozenges. Some of those long sweet red peppers, sliced all nice-like. A couple of fresh chillis, sliced. I used a red one and a green one tonight, mainly because they look nice.

Fry off the chicken in as little oil as you can get away with, without getting too much colour on it - this dish is not nice if it's greasy. Chuck in the peppers, onions and chillis. Add a couple of tablespoons of nam pla (fish sauce). Your kitchen will now smell of bellend/flange. Don't worry about it, it passes. I chucked in a tin of coconut milk. If you want a thicker sauce, use some creamed coconut and make it up using 2/3rds of the recommended amount water.

Make some boiled basmati rice.

Right at the end of cooking, shred a good handful of fresh basil and stir into the sauce, along with the juice of one lime. Don't return the pan to the heat; the basil and lime will lose their flavour if you do.

Drain the rice and stir through the juice of a lime. By now the basil will have wilted nicely in the sauce.

Serve with a nice cold beer.

Options: black pepper early on, ditto a stalk or two of fresh lemongrass. Modulate the heat by adding more sliced fresh chilli.

Cheat's satay. Sliced chicken tits or sirloin pan fried then add a stirred up mixture of these two for the last minute.

Fair.

Though to be fair at least british airports manage to cope with aircraft landing and taking off, which is more than Milan could do the last time i Was there

Domino's have just opened up next door to the office and I wondered how long before one of my colleagues would be tempted - three weeks actually, which surprises me. Turned up with two pizzas as they've got a BOGOF going. Complete waste of food - no-one else was interested in a free pizza.
Tell you what, if Domino's has so much to spare let's help both western obesity and third world hunger - give us one pizza, like what was ordered, and feed the second to someone else who actually needs it?

My wife and I have been trying Hello Fresh.
https://www.hellofresh.co.uk/landing/co ... gK8GPD_BwE
Basically, on a Saturday we get delivered a box with 5 bags of meals-for-two for the week.
Each bag contains exactly the correct amount of fresh produce for the meal and a recipe sheet.
Its costs about £50 per week (once the offers have expired), with the main advantage being that you have fresh food every night and zero waste.

Anyway, the verdict is that this is an absolute winner.
The single biggest thing about it, upon which the brand will succeed of fail, is that almost every meal is delicious. Over the past four weeks the worst meal I have had I ate all of but could take or leave in the future. Most of them, though, are properly delicious and good enough to look forward to coming home to.

Precisely, but perhaps they could cut out the middleman and just give it away themselves?

Me? No, they get fed earlier. I don't get home until 7 so we eat later than the kids during the week.

I keep getting tempted by one of those delivery things. For a month we had weekly deliveries from one of those fresh veg companies. Got fed up with boxes with a turnip, a ropey looking leek and some limp kale.
