Yes, we did that for a while too. It was just shit and it makes you suspicious of this kind of thing.
This isn't remotely similar because you eat everything and enjoy it.

When someone else gives me the exact amount for an adult portion, it won't be enough.

Are you sure that it was the veg your wife was moaning about?

So I assumed too.
But surprisingly it is. Technically if you made the meal and split it exactly in half you are probably right. You would eat your portion and feel slightly unsatisfied.
However, realistically your wife will eat 40% of it and you will eat 60% and that 60% is plenty.

I don't think I've ever knowingly eaten kale, but saw it's been added to the 'basket of goods' used to calculate inflation this year

What a bizarre list.

Although we did swap my daughter’s tricycle for a cat yurt this year.

It's the modern version of Smash powdered potato.
It's for people who don't have time to peel/boil/mash because they're busy watching a cookery programme.

Never heard of that either, is it instant mash potato you just add milk or water to ?

That sounds awful.

As part of my 'holiday' preparations I'm going here at the weekend - http://www.thegroverestaurant.co.nz/

I shall starve myself that day and have 7 courses, they have been informed of my aversion to cheese and hopefully it wont be an issue.

Anyone ever tried one of these oven smoker things?

e.g.
one of these

Soak some woodchips, stick them in the smoker. Bang it in the oven (or on BBQ) and you can smoke your own food - which I've always fancied doing but building a proper smoker was E>r . So these look great, but do they actually work?

Yeah I’ve got one somewhere.

I’ve done. Smoked mackerel, smoked chicken and some sort of pork, I think.

The mackerel was the best but easy to make a little too smokey so go easy on the chips.

Remember it’s a hot smoker so very different to cold smoked food.

Thanks,
but...
Tokyo Sexwale wrote:Yeah I’ve got one somewhere. .

Hmm, that smacks a bit like you used it a few times when you first got it, but then stuck it away and haven't used it for so long you've forgotten where it is.

Is that the case?

Thanks for the offer, but I reckon the fuel costs would be more than the cost of buying one. If only I owned an electric car, eh?

But not a great recommendation if you don't care about it. Hmmm

I made one with an old roasting pan and rack and did smoked pork on the BBQ. It was OK but I only used it once.
