If I was going to read an autobiography, the world of formula one would be right at the bottom of my list, below that of a prominent chicken farmer or a lumberjack.
If the only genre of books in existence were racing driver autobiographies then Damon Hill would be right at the bottom of my list below that of the winner of Red Bull soap box race 2007

I find autobiographies to be dull as shit, as a general rule.

Well the current FIA European Truck Racing champion is Jochen Hahn, whose surname is German for chicken.

Carrol Shelby was a chicken farmer. I imagine an autobiography of his would be quite entertaining.

Anyway, normally I'd agree with you all about an autobiography, especially that of an F1 driver, being shit, but not in this case. It's getting a lot of good reviews too - beyond my humble opinion.

I suppose it depends enormously and completely on who's it is. A general rule covering everyone makes you sound a little...feathered.

Fair point. However. I'm sure that there are some autobiographies that I would actually find fascinating, but I tend to find that people telling me what they did, for several hundred pages, just doesn't engage me. It's like how I just don't enjoy opera. It's the form, not specific instances of it.

You must generalise about your own preferences, tokesy? Of course you do.

HOw did you find this? I loved it. Thought it was very clever and brilliantly done.
Went to order the second one to discover it is a PREQUEL. I fcuking hate prequels. What the giddy fcuk is the point of making a story where you already know the ending? I am too angry to get it and given that wool concludes itself all very neatly I am of the mindset to leave it at that.
