New Arrival: Audi RS6

General car gossip.

Not easy as such!
I once decided to test my GTR on an empty m40 one night. I lost my bottle at 165 despite nothing else on the road. Anything above 120 gets pretty scary for me. The thought of going at 200 mph on a normal road is pretty scary with a stopping distance of 4 o 500 metres

Is this a guess or do you know this for sure?
If the engine has been remapped, is it likely that it was de-limited at the same time?

It's an educated guess based on this:
http://www.superstreetonline.com/features/700hp-mtm-audi-rs6-r-wagon/
and another link that I've lost. everything I've looked at is pointing to around the 200mph mark based on 700bhp.. It's impossible to be sure without knowing more about your remap.
There's a good chance that whoever did the map removed the limiter, but it's not guaranteed. and there's only one way to really find out....

The speed limiter might have been raised to 300km/h rather than removed altogether. You could always go on one of those VMAX events if you don't want to risk making headline news.

I hate the way Audi gives such a big space for the 1-6 buttons.

It would be good if pressing 1 could be set for sat-nav home or 2 for changing the suspension to a stiffer preset. But they're just radio stations sadface.

Minor gripes in a 700bhp wagon, but

I thought exactly the same as you but not only were we very very wrong, but the truth is quite exciting. That little number pad is actually a little touch screen with many excellent functions.
Forex, go to satnav and the numbers vanish and are replaced by a box. To enter your destination you just write the letters or postcode with your finger on it and the car recognises it and fills in the destination . Same with the phone function . Just write the number there if you want. I might do a video for you later

Sadly on an A4 they're just buttons.

Unfortunately I would need to have water up to the gearstick at most boat ramps over here to launch, otherwise one would def be on my list.
Looks great and I bet its awesome to drive.

Nonononono, you've got it all wrong. It's a car. You don't launch it, it goes on the roads. You can tell because the wheels don't have paddles on and it hasn't got any props.

That one doesnt look like an absurd toaster. Approve. I prefer those lights to the later facelift ones, the new ones a bit bland compared to those.

Congrats TT! The Land Cruiser didn’t last long though - what happened?

I love the RS6 though - a monster of a machine...

I was still loving the Land Cruiser, and now I have to love the RS6 instead.

I did notice though that the acceptable depreciation on the LC would have almost actually bought my Shogun by itself, which made me feel a rare glimmer of satisfaction at something.

Yes Damo, you're right there. It was only acceptable depreciation in that it was an expensive car bought retail and then p/exed. So it wasn't really depreciation, more dealer margin in selling/buying a £35k car.
Dis, re the Land Cruiser: The Land Cruiser was a brilliant car, it was just dull to drive and really slow (I suppose like most big 4x4s). I booked it in for a remap to improve it and it turns out that it was a newer version of the ECU that there was no software for i.e. it couldn't be done.
So I was moping a bit about it being so expensive and not much fun. But then I assured myself that I was now middle aged and all I needed to do was test drive an RS6 to remind myself that I am soooo over fast cars and love my Land Cruiser as much as it deserved.
Anyway, within 10 seconds of drving the RS6 I realised I absolutely had to own one and I could never live with the Land Cruiser whilst an RS6 existed.

You can change this in the menu to open all doors. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dO5Z-OzQSzQ

Well done. It works now. It was never an option on the Phaeton

Are you a dwarf, TT? I hope you aren't a dwarf, but when I went to look at the A6 Avant, I opened the boot and leant forward to poke my head in and it smacked me right between the eyes. Then on the way out the latch mechanism smacked me right on the back of the head. I saw stars. Who on earth designs a car that a very average 5ft 10(and a half, possibly) inch man can't get into the boot without concussing himself?
I walked away from it and decided I would only be buying Mrs W another glorified shopping trolley. She at least could walk under the hatch without incurring brain damage

I was hoping that would help but my attempts to work out what the advanced key actually is have left me significantly more confused than I was when I started.

A couple of weeks on and I still love this car as much as when I bought it.
It is too powerful which is a good thing in my eyes.
The only slight drawback is how fcuking wide it is. Sounds weird when I have just been driving a Land Cruiser but it is wider than that. It will not fit in town centre car parking spaces due to width.
I have no idea what the actual figures are but as an example I parked next to a Thorno car yesterday, which we know is huuuuuge. And just look:

Love this. Also that it's modded, because standard ones with a mere 560 horses are obviously lethargic.

It fits in the station car park okay.
I went to the theatre the other night and tried to get in a space and quite literally couldn't. The wheels were on both white lines so I could get the car in but not open the doors!

I still love it too.

I'm so relieved. I thought someone was going to come on and say that it was a normal width and that I was a parking vagina.
Just looked- the Land Cruiser was only 1885 wide

I was hoping to be that person, sadly the truth didn't bear my wish out.

Assuming door, since mirrors fold in, but garage walls don't fold out.
